Most Jiu-Jitsu practitioners will tell you how the art has helped them, and we're no different.

I have trained Jiu-Jitsu at several different schools over the last 4 years. Jake Johnston is a top notch instructor and the people who train here are awesome.
Since training at Ronin Jiu-Jitsu, I feel that my overall understanding of Jiu-Jitsu has been enhanced immeasurable. Jake has always been willing to take the extra time to make sure I understand what is being taught, and why.
Additionally, I have lost over 50 pounds. My life has changed dramatically through this transformation. My stress levels are much lower and I was able to quit taking several medications. It has been an absolute life changing experience for me.

To old? Only if you think you are.
I started at age 49 (now 52) with the attitude that it's now or never.
I found that Jiu-Jitsu is great for your physical and mental well-being. You use all your muscles, even ones you didn't know you had! I would strongly recommend Ronin JJC to anyone interested in trying Gracie Jiu-Jitsu.
Jake is a great teacher and takes each student's goal seriously. You never have to do anything you're uncomfortable with, but you'll find yourself motivated to push yourself harder and further than you ever imagined.
My only wish is that I'd started sooner.

From my time in the Army, I gained an appreciation for Gracie Jiu-Jitsu as both a combative style and a recreational sport.
When I moved to St. George as a civilian, I found Ronin Jiu-Jitsu Center. The down-side from learning from Jake is that everything you thought you knew about grappling is probably wrong, and I was no different. I found out that I had missed out on the Gracie philosophies (e.g. "flow with the go") and had sloppy technique. Turns out that "fast and hard" will only get you so far.
Luckily for me, Ronin JJC was a positive experience. Jake's skill and experience in GJJ is matched by his talent for teaching. The other students have all been great too, dispelling the meat-head stereotype I thought I'd be dealing with. Ronin JJC's attributes encouraged me to stick with it and my only regret is not starting sooner in life.
There is another down-side, though. It can be habit-forming. You'll be lifting weights somewhere and realize that you get a better workout, for longer, and have a better time doing Jiu-Jitsu.

Having not done martial since I was a boy I was pretty reluctant to start training at a completly new form.
I have always been a fan of the UFC since the early 90's, and Gracie Jiu-Jitsu has always fascinated me. I decided I would come to a free class and demonstration by Ronin Jiu-Jitsu Center and I feel it was fate.
I was impressed with the way Jake took the time to thoroughly explain things, the way the guys were so welcoming, and the way this made me feel after training. I lost 20 lbs, my confidence has skyrocketed, and I have made good friends. In fact, I would say I'm addictied to Jiu-Jitsu. I wished I would have started coming here years ago.
I would recommend this school and it's head instructor Jake Johnson to anyone!
